The 90's

The 1990s, abbreviated as "nineties" (or 90's), was a decade that began on January 1st, 1990, and ended on December 31st, 1999.

Some of my students remember the 90's as a crucial period of their lives - their childhood.

Culturally, the 90's was characterized by the rise of multiculturalism and aided by then-new thechnology such as cable television and the Internet.

In fact, the 1990's was an incredibly revolutionary decade for digital technology.

Some facts about the 90's:

* The World Wide Web (abbreviated as "w.w.w.") gains massive popularity worldwide.
* The boom of the mobile phones.
* E-mail becomes popular.
* Instant messaging becomes popular.
* Businesses start to build E-commerce websites.

On the other hand, MUSIC in the 1990s saw the continuation of trends which had emerged in the 1970s and 1980s. Furthermore, new styles appeared and continued to be highly successful in this decade.

Music in general remained extremely popular throughout the decade
 and many different styles coexisted, such as:

ALTERNATIVE ROCK
INDIE ROCK
PUNK ROCK
POP ROCK
HEAVY METAL
GRUNGE
R&B
FUNK
REGGAE
RAP
NEO-SOUL
HIP HOP
ELECTRONIC MUSIC
COUNTRY
SALSA
( ... among many other musical styles).

As an example of the music on fashion during the 90's, we have selected the following video by a Danish vocal group (LOCAL VOCAL), where there is no instruments, just voices a capella, to pay our tribute to some of the 90's dance hits.

I hope you enjoy it !!
